Text Box: About Leon M. Rubin
With more than 30 years of experience in fundraising communications, corporate communications and public relations, Leon has worked with numerous nonprofit and corporate clients to develop and implement public relations campaigns as well as to create a wide range of collateral materials.  He has been an independent writer and consultant since 1991.
Leon’s nonprofit clients have included the Office Depot Foundation, the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, the Palm Beach County Cultural Council, the Broward Performing Arts Foundation, Flagler College (St. Augustine, FL), and Jupiter Medical Center Foundation (Jupiter, FL).  He writes for Cultural Quarterly magazine for the Broward County Cultural Division as well as art&culture magazine for the Palm Beach County Cultural Council.  He has written fundraising case statements for The Ohio State University, Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, St. Louis University, Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, Baptist/South Miami Hospital Foundation, and other clients in Florida, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Utah.  
Leon is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a former board member of AFP’s Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter.  He served as co-chair of Planet Philanthropy 2002, the biennial statewide AFP conference, and was on the conference’s planning committee for eight years.  He is a member of the Association of Philanthropic Counsel (APC) and has spoken on effective fund-raising communications, case building and public relations to AFP chapters and other organizations in Florida, Ohio and New York.  
Leon holds bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from The Ohio State University. In recent years, his work has received a number of awards from the League of American Communications Professionals, PR News and the National Association of Counties.  Most recently, the Office Depot Foundation’s 2007 Report to the Community, which Leon wrote and edited, received the PR News 2008 NonProfit PR Award in the external publications category.
